Spain 10 days, 9 nights

Itinerary – Arrival in Madrid, meet your tour manager after clearing customs, and transfer to your hotel.  Have an orientation to Spain to hear about local customs and safety.  After a bite to eat and a short time to freshen up, embark on a guided walking tour of Madrid.  You will see the Plaza de Cibeles, Almudena Cathedral, Royal Palace, Opera House, Temple of Debod, Gran Vía, Plaza Mayor, and Puerta del Sol.

Later in the afternoon, you will have a guided visit to the Prado Museum. After soaking up art and fusion between traditional and cosmopolitan neighborhoods, make a mandatory stop at the ancient San Ginés chocolate shop to enjoy the typical and tasty chocolate with churros.

Itinerary –  Depart this morning on a motorcoach to travel to Toledo.  Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, Toledo has embraced the coexistence of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian cultures, which is why it is called the “City of the Three Cultures.”   Your guide will share the history and stories of this spectacular part of Spain.    Visit the Cathedral of Toledo and the Jewish Quarter.  (Consider adding an exclusive access program to hidden Toledo.  With a specialized guide, visit the underground catacombs and discover what the city hides under its streets.)

Return by motorcoach to Madrid.    Take a short bus tour to see the Santiago Bernabeú, the emblemática Puerta de Alcalá, Retiro Park, Paseo de la Castellana and the Plaza de Toros de las Ventas.  After dinner, walk through the noble neighborhood of “Madrid de los Austrias.”

Itinerary – Travel to Malaga this morning.  Enter the front door of the heart of Andalusia.  Discover a city of contrasts with its towns full of white houses and narrow streets that are pure magic.   On arrival, take a walking tour through Old Town –  stroll the famous Calle Larios full of modern shops and tempting cafes.   Visit the Cathedral, one of the most valuable Renaissance jewels in Andalusia.

After lunch, enjoy a coffee at a local café as you watch the world go by.  Relax for a bit before a visit to the Picasso Museum. (Consider adding a visit par excellence, Antonio Banderas.  Taste local tapas with a flamenco atmosphere, tiles, a barrel room, and an Andalusian patio.)

Later this afternoon, visit Alcazaba, considered one of the most beautiful in Spain.

Overnight: Malaga

Itinerary – This morning, journey along the coast and visit charming towns in the heart of Andalusia.   The first stop is Marbella,  a privileged place on the Costa del Sol, also known as Costa del Golf, because of the large number of golf courses per sq. mile.

While here, visit Puerto Banús, the Historic Quarter, Plaza de los Naranjos, Parque de la Alameda, and Avenida del Mar.  Admire the ten authenticated giant bronze works of Salvador Dalí.

This afternoon, enter the mountains and hear stories of bandits who once roamed the area.    The next stop is Ronda, a beautiful town with its great river Tagus that cuts the city in half.   Enjoy some free time to explore Ronda before returning to Malaga.

Itinerary – Depart for Granada.  On arrival, visit the Cathedral, the final resting place of the Catholic Kings.  Later, enjoy free time in small groups to wander the town center and find hidden treasures.

This afternoon, take a guided tour of the majestic Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Palace is the symbol of Granada and the culminating work of Muslim art in Spain.  The tour also includes visiting the beautiful Generalife Gardens and the Carlos V Palace.

This evening, enjoy the sunset in the Albaicín neighborhood, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.   It is Granada’s oldest high-rise neighborhood.   Stop at the San Nicolás viewpoint to enjoy the most spectacular views with the illuminated Alhambra in the background and to be able to capture the beautiful sunset.  (Consider adding a tasting of Moorish tea in a local tea shop in the surrounding Arab neighborhood.)

Overnight: Granada

Itinerary – Travel to Cordoba and witness the land of olive groves, a region that produces some of the best olive oil in the world.  The area is nicknamed “liquid gold”.

Visit the local mosque, often considered the most emblematic monument in the city.  It is well known for its Byzantine, Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, and Mudejar architecture.

This afternoon, a walk through the Jewish quarter.  Get lost in its narrow, twisting streets full of charm and color.  Visit the Roman Bridge, considered the most beautiful in Spain.

Following dinner, depart for Seville.

Itinerary –  Enter the jewel of Andalusia: Seville!  With its grand monuments, the smell of jasmine and orange blossom, its streets, patios, and fountains, and charm, Seville is sure to leave its mark.    Visit the Cathedral, which is home to the tomb of Christopher Columbus.  Have an opportunity to climb to the Giralda (bell tower).

Enjoy free time in small groups for lunch (included) and explore the shops and cafes.

This afternoon, take a boat trip on the Guadalquivir River, admiring the Torre del Oro and Plaza de Toros, Puente de Triana, and much more.

Walk through the neighborhood of Santa Cruz.  One of the most charming neighborhoods in Seville, known for its narrow streets, stately homes, and flower-filled patios, and also for its music – flamenco.

Tonight, we will enjoy a special tapas dinner and then an authentic Flamenco Show before returning to the hotel.

Itinerary –  Today, we continue to explore Seville.  Enjoy a guided tour of the city to see places such as the Plaza de España and the leafy gardens of the María Luisa Park to admire its famous statue of Bécquer.

After the tour, there will be free time for lunch (included) and to enjoy a coffee on one of the many terraces with views of the Guadalquivir or to find the last souvenirs to take home.

Enjoy a flamenco dance class and sevillanas with a flamenco teacher.  Learn the first steps of Flamenco!   Next up, enjoy a cooking demonstration.  Learn some simple and easy dishes to prepare for your family when you return home, and transfer the essence of Spain to the other side of the Atlantic.

Tonight, enjoy a tasting dinner with dishes prepared by a local chef.  Later, enjoy a farewell party – there will be surprises!

Say Adios to Spain.   After breakfast, depart for the airport and your flight home.
